TESTO 420 – VOLUME FLOW HOOD 0563 4200
The testo 420 balometer is designed for precise airflow measurements on larger ventilation grilles, including swirl diffusers, enabling quick and easy compliance with indoor air quality standards in large spaces such as hospitals, office buildings, and commercial facilities. Its integrated airflow straightener significantly improves measurement accuracy by minimizing turbulence, which often causes errors in determining airflow rate and volume. This allows for reliable calculations of total volume flow in HVAC systems, covering a range from 80 to 3,500 m³/h.
The testo 420 balometer is exceptionally lightweight and ergonomically designed for comfortable use, even during frequent measurements. Integrated handles and a tiltable display, combined with a weight of under 2.9 kg, make the device easy to transport and quick to set up. The standard 610 x 610 mm measurement hood can be replaced with optional hoods (360 x 360 mm, 305 x 1220 mm, 610 x 1220 mm), and a telescopic tripod with a maximum reach of 3.3 m simplifies access to high-mounted diffusers. Safe transport and storage are ensured by the supplied wheeled transport case.
The testo 420 also allows on-site generation of measurement reports using the free testo Smart App. Connecting the device via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet enables its use as an additional display or remote control. The app allows for real-time measurements with start/stop functionality, saving data in txt format, and creating ready-to-send reports containing customer information, measured airflow volume results, and air change rates for the room, which can then be emailed directly from the app.
Equipped with a detachable electronic differential pressure manometer, the testo 420 measures all essential ventilation system parameters, including air velocity, airflow rate, pressure, temperature, and humidity. The automatic zeroing function of the differential pressure sensor ensures high accuracy, particularly at low measurement ranges. All values are clearly displayed on a large, backlit graphic LCD, and data can be saved in the device memory and processed on a PC using plug&play functionality without additional software. The balometer can also measure in ventilation ducts using a Pitot tube and features multi-point or time-averaging, eliminating the need for additional instruments to measure airflow parameters in HVAC systems.
